Today we’d like to introduce you to John Herkenrath

John, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My Mom is a lifelong Real Estate Broker. She was selling Bay Area homes where I grew up when Silicon Valley became a global market in the 1980’s. Real Estate was all we heard about in our Los Altos home growing up, setting up signs and passing out flyers at Open Houses. I watched and learned working with Mom, my brother and I are both second generation career Real Estate Professionals. I know a lot about a little! So enjoy working with my expansive client list looking to buy a vacation home in one of the many desirable locales that I’ve lived.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth and fun! It’s just Real Estate, keep it simple! I had the good fortune of joining a Real Estate sales group that sold luxury vacation developments in the most desirable locales in the world. With my young family we were based and lived in some amazing places while working on projects in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe – Oahu, Hawaii – Maui, Hawaii – Naples, Florida – Exuma, Bahamas – La Paz, Mexico – Malibu, California and Calabasas, California. I learned from a vast array of lifestyle purveyor clients that our most valuable asset is time. Live life well!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
It was made very clear to me early in my career that ours is a service industry. I serve my buyer and seller clients well in properly representing their best interests during a home sale transaction. I’m known for going above and beyond for my clients, I’m happy to help. The many referrals I receive is what I am most proud of, I appreciate that those I have worked for refer me for their friends and family in need of a Real Estate Professional. I actually pick up my phone! Clients can reach me anytime, imagine that? These days I’m enjoying assisting my friends and clients looking to buy a second home in a vacation destination for their families to enjoy. I’ve bought and sold my own homes, I’ve flipped, I’ve spec’d, I’ve built new and I own investment properties, rentals and vacation homes. My lifelong real estate experiences sets me apart.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
California born and raised! I love LA! The weather, the scenery and all there is to do in SoCal…I’ve traveled all over the world, I’m happiest right here at home. Love the outdoors, enjoy anything outside and we have an amazing, year round lifestyle to live in LA. I enjoy cycling and riding and surfing everywhere along the coast. For my 50th I surfed Malibu in the morning, then snowboarded Northstar At Tahoe that afternoon. All in state! While I do not enjoy traffic, I make the most of that time making calls. Nothing to complain about here 🙂
